What is the status of the international recognition of the HAC Certificate?

We have already signed Memorandum of Understandings and partnership agreements for reciprocal recognition and knowledge sharing with a majority of international Halal compliance authorities in various countries.

From the Corporate point of view what is the benefit of having the HAC certificate?

Apart from confirming to the masses about the Quality Standard, Halal conscious community and global consumer market of over 2 billion people become potential customers across the globe. This also facilitates the right to choice of the consumers and makes a corporate showcase their commitment to diversity in a multi-ethnic country like Sri Lanka.

What is your staff strength?

We currently employ specialists in areas of Food Science Technology, Bio Technology, Finance, Customer Service and Management with around 40 staff

Why does a Non-Muslim have to pay for Halal Certification when it is mainly for Muslims?

Although standards are derived from religious and cultural values, HAC is focused on looking at taking care of the compliance of the organization who voluntarily request for the Certification to enable them to be competitive, ethical and internationally benchmarked; whether owned by Muslims or Non-Muslims.

If Not for Profit Organization, why is a fee charged?

Although we are Not for Profit, we focus on providing a high quality service to our clients. This quality comes with the employment of skilled staff and up to date infrastructure which has a cost as any other organization. We also provide value added services for Sri Lankan businesses to grow further and to develop affiliations with international counterpart organisations for enable cross recognition for Sri Lankan brands. It is to cover such cost that we are compelled to charge a fee for our Services.
